Bollywood is a unique hybrid of Indian and Hollywood films. Hitherto, it has been a film industry that has remained largely confined to its own land with few attempts to break into the international market. However, the recent success of films such as "Slumdog Millionaire" and "Shahid" have ensured that Bollywood's capacity for creating world-class content is beyond doubt. But when it comes to the actual process of getting hold of these films in order to watch them online, there are plenty of regional restrictions applied in order to prevent their export outside India. A unique exception to these rules is the collection of Bollywood films that are available in the public domain. These films are no longer protected by their copyright and can be freely distributed online. The reason why they have fallen out of copyright is because they have either been released too long ago or have been produced by a company that has since gone out of business. The latter means that many of these films may be missing opening credits, names in the credits and even a soundtrack. However, if you want to watch a Bollywood classic from yesteryear then there are plenty from which to choose from. Here then is a list of 10 classic Bollywood films that you can watch for free online .
1. "Lilawati" (1965)2. "Karz" (1958)3. "Aandhi" (1973)4. "The Train" (1980)5. "Sharaabi" (1974)(closest thing to a musical ever made in India, well not to have a music score, well one song but that's it, no musicians or orchestra involvement it's just some actress singing on some old crappy keyboard with no accompaniment of any kind, not even any mike for her voice was used. The film had some decent performances and some very good writing for a Bollywood movie but the soundtrack was so bad I couldn't stand it.)6. "Zamana" (1966)(Remake of The Train. It's not as good as the original but at least this one has a nice soundtrack and not an awful one like the first effort.)7. "Dhanwan" (1971)(A truly horrible borefest that believes that it can take place in modern times and still be set during wartime, guess what it is set during.)8. "Ganwaar" (1978)(Another atrocious Bollywood remake of a classic film. )9. "Zindagi Kitni Haseen Hai" (1967)(The only film in the list that has one little scene that I liked. The scene is when the heroine finds old photos of her and her lover and she shows him the photos and he starts looking at them while she is crying. It's this scene that makes it worth streaming.)10.
